<Used Things>, 2025
Building on the research from the previous "Project—We love for ?—<Giving Love on My Birthday>", <Used Things> sought to sculpturally express the gaps left by fleeting encounters and the unstable connections layered between them. I utilized tape—an adhesive material known for its fragility—to connect fragments of cake and fill the transparent spaces between them, stacking these elements in an intentionally unstable configuration. This work represents the notion that sustaining relationships requires the accumulation of small, repeated efforts. Yet, despite these efforts, significant gaps—both large and small—persist between connections. These gaps remain transparent, and even when illuminated, they cast fragile, ephemeral shadows. I interpret this as a metaphor for the imperfection inherent in relationships. Through this piece, I aimed to articulate the instability of the continuous effort to bridge the gaps that exist both between and within relationships.
